Push Bar

There are several types of protection available for automobiles. Some equip it with armor while others install bars. A push bar for example, is a commercially used protective bar installed at the front part of vehicles to modulate the damage taken during collisions. It does not only provide protection but it also gives a sense of masculinity, beauty and modern look to the vehicle. A push baris also known as bull bars, grille guards and brush guards in other countries.

Considered as an enhancement, accessory or add-on, a push bar is usually made of chrome, polished welded steel or aluminum tubing and more recently, moulded polycarbonate and polyethylene materials are added to its variety. A push bar also varies in size and style in accordance to the specifications and needs of a particular vehicle. Although often criticized for a variety of safety-related (pedestrian safe) and environmental reasons (collisions with wildlife), a push bar is usually installed in large vehicles such as Pick-ups, trucks, and Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs).

Aside from its primary function as protection to the vehicle and the passengers, a push bar can also be used as a battering ram, or a nudge bar to push other vehicles off the road, specifically used by Highway Patrol vehicles in order to smooth traffic flow. There are certain specifications or rules that need to be followed before installing a push bar. Some of those rules are that it should be detachable, capable of decelerating other vehicles with a space and size allowance equivalent to two people standing erect.
